Managing the time

The management problem I am facing right now is: how to manage time efficiently. Since I started college education in Fall 2003 I have the problem how to manage the time. I work full time I am the full time student and it is very hard to find the time to study and for private life. Hmmm .... I don't even have private life :( Even if I find the time the question is: how to use it efficiently. Obviously managing the time is very important in order to receive the best grades as possible. Like other students that have to work to support themselves I have a dilemna how to divide the time among the particular classes. We have determine what classes require the greatest amount of the time to spend on; and what classes need less time. The toughest time during the semester is when the midterms and finals are scheduled. Too much material to remember and at the same time very little amount of time. How the A's student keeps his/hers 3.7 ro higher GPA?? He or she must be genius ;-)

You're right about the challenges of managing time. I work part-time, attend school full time and other extra things. One solution is to make a schedule for studying and private life. You won't have much after class, since you're full time student. But I found out that those 10-15 minutes break between each class can be very helpfull if we maximize it. You can take this short-break and read the notes from a previus class. This helped me to remember the material and do well in my classes. You don't have to be a genius to have a high GPA! :)

Hi Rafal, your problem is one of the many most of the students go through these days. Yes I agree that time is precious and it’s never long enough to get all what we have or supposed to do on time. But this is life, you are doing it because you know that you are heading towards something that will change your life for the better, otherwise you will not do it. I too am working full time and going to school full time. One thing that works for me is make a list of things that I have to do, prioritize them, make schedule and most importantly stick to it. This is my way of managing effectively my time. I am just like you I don’t have a private life either, but that was my choice. People make sacrifices in their lives to make their dreams come true. Maybe you should think of what you are doing now, working and studying, as a sacrifice you have to make to achieve your dreams. People who are getting A’s are not “geniuses” or are from a different world, if you try to you use you free time effectively you will probably be an A student too. That’s my point of view concerning this matter, and I don’t know if you will agree with me or not.

Hi Rafal

I think the best way to manage time is by listing your top priorities. On the top of the list should class work. By listing school as your top priority before you do anything you should ask yourself do I have any homework to do or do I have an exam coming up. You should probably start using a planner to organize your school and private life. To better prepare yourself for midterms and finals, you should start studying for your exams a week or two in advance so by the week of the exam you are 100% ready to take them.

Sometimes I try to write things down so that I can see them on paper, like a "to do" list. This way I can see them and feel proud when I check them off. I keep organized and get all my work, well most of my work, done on time. Also I use a planner as well. I can see my month and my week ahead of time, decide how stressed out to get, then make a to do list. I also use a lot of post-it notes. They're all over my planner! You should always keep time for yourself too I think. Read or write or do something that's pleasing for you. I hope this helps!
